Where should we be in this Coronavirus chaos?

This isn’t going to be super focused on the virus itself but the chaos. Right now we are living in a pretty crazy time. People are freaking out, Germ X is now liquid gold, toilet paper is no where to be found and Walmart isn’t even open 24/7. So in all this Chaos where should we as christians be? I’m reminded of a story that almost everyone knows out of the book of Mark.

Mark 4

35On that day, when evening had come, he (Jesus) said to them, "Let us go across to the other side." 36And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling.

So they’re currently in mass chaos. Everyone is scared. The boat is filling with water which gives the possibility of it sinking. So where is Jesus in all of this?

Mark 4

38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" 39And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 

Jesus was straight up asleep. I don’t know if any of you have ever been in a boat but even MASIVE boats rock when a storm is going on. But Jesus didn’t care. He was sleeping. So then they wake him up and all he does is speak and the storm is calmed. Then Jesus starts questioning them.

Mark 4

40He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?" 41And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

So heres what to take from all this

1. Jesus was asleep in the Chaos. He was at peace. This is how we should be in all of this.

2. Jesus is in this boat with us. If we’re feeling scared we just have to pray. He’s there for us.

3. God is in control. Lets not operate out of fear. Lets have strong faith in God that he’s gonna provide. If he can bring peace to a storm he can bring peace to this Coronavirus.
